Joshua M. Nypaver

Marketing Professional

I’m Joshua Nypaver, and I specialize in creating impactful digital experiences through web development, content creation, and design. With over 15 years of experience, I’ve led transformative projects like revamping university websites, growing social media communities, and producing multimedia content for nationally recognized events.

I’m passionate about blending creativity with technology to engage audiences and achieve measurable results. Outside of work, I stay involved in my community, serving on the Rock Hill Tree Commission and contributing to local initiatives as well as delving into dungeons (metaphorically) with my friends. I’m always looking for ways to innovate and make meaningful connections through my work.

I have worked at JCSU for a number of years and it has afforded me the ability to do a number of things.

In my time there, I have been lucky enough to hold a number of different titles as my role evolved:

  • Webmaster/Assistant Print Shop Coordinator (2008)

  • Web Services Coordinator (2008-2022)

  • Assistant Director for Digital Communications (2022-present)

Working here has afforded me the opportunity to gather a number of skills and learn many things which I'm deeply grateful for.

I will always treasure the connections that I have made with staff and former students and I have had the deeply gratifying opportunity to watch a number of former students become successful adults.

Unfortunately, I also feel as if I have reached a plateau in my ability to learn new things and grow and I am looking for the next new experience that will allow me to do so.

This university will always hold a special place in my heart, however.

I was extremely fortunate to land a gig in news right out of college (actually just before graduation). From 2000 until 2005 I worked as a video editor, working my way up from overnights to the coveted 5, 6 and 11 p.m. news shows.

I learned a lot in news especially about working quickly and staying productive. Oh, and deadlines. There are some razor thin deadlines that we had to hit every day just to get the news out to Charlotte. It was a real "trial by fire" as a first job but I enjoyed it.

Office Skills

Software, I'm proficient with: Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Audition, After Effects), Content Management Systems, MS Office 365, Google Workspace.

I'm equally comfortable in a Macintosh or PC environment. I am an adept at rapid prototyping and using a variety of visualization tools.

I am currently working to become more proficient with ChatGTP.

Community Involvement

I'm grateful that at Winthrop I learned how to learn and that experience has allowed me to grow throughout my career. â€‹

I had great mentors who I work to emulate as I deal with students myself. They took time to care for me and mentor me and I look to pay that forward as I work with students.
